Is transmission repair worth it?
Compare the repair against the vehicle, not against zero. On a truck or SUV worth $20,000 or more with a sound engine and body, spending $3,000 to $6,000 to keep it another 100,000 miles is straightforward arithmetic against a $60,000 replacement.
Where it stops making sense is a car worth less than the repair, or one with other major faults queued up behind the transmission. We will tell you when that is the case — there is no version of this business where selling someone a rebuild they should not buy works out well.
How much is a transmission diagnostic?

How long does transmission repair take?
Same day for a service or an external solenoid, one to three days for valve body and seal work, two to four days for a converter or a replacement, and three to five days for a rebuild including dyno testing.
